There’s a Party in Aquarius This February & Mars Isn’t Invited

    Starting February 1, through February 18, of this year there is a super stellium of personal planets in the U.S.’s third house.  Personal planets relate to the planets and lights used in astrology that are visible to the naked eye or the planets and lights used in traditional methods of astrology, including Vedic (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn).  A stellium of personal planets is considered much more significant than the outer planets (Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto) because the outer planets move more slowly and are considered more generational.  For example, Saturn, the slowest moving of the personal planets is associated with death in astrology because for many generations, people did not live past the age of thirty.  A human life was basically measured by the time it took for Saturn to make a full revolution around the native’s natal chart.

Stelliums in astrology are where there are clusters, three or more planets, in the same sign. The reason that stelliums in charts are powerful and of interest to an astrologer is the concentration of planets act like a super-planet in the chart.  The super stellium in the U.S.’s chart in February will be the second longest one in the United States’ history; lasting three full weeks in a fixed air sign.  Since the full endorsement of the Declaration of Independence by the Second Continental Congress on July 4, 1776; there have been twenty-six super stelliums involving personal planets in the U.S.’s natal chart. The stellium in Aquarius this February will be the twenty-seventh.

What is interesting about these super stelliums is that they are preceded by some type of aspect between Mars and Uranus in the U.S.’s chart.  Yesterday, we experienced the second assault on our U.S. Capitol while transiting Mars was at 29 degrees of Aries; within orb of transiting Uranus in Taurus.  Mars will cross Uranus in the U.S.’s sixth house on January 20, Inauguration Day here in the U.S.  The first assault on the U.S. Capitol was on August 24, 1814, when the British entered Washington D.C. during the 1812 War and burned down the Capitol building and several other important structures.  At the time, the super stellium in the U.S.’s chart was developing in the 10H (Virgo; mutable earth sign).  Mars was a part of this super stellium and was in a hard aspect (square; tension) to the U.S.’s natal Uranus in the 8H in the sign of Gemini (mutable air sign).  The super stellium culminated on September 18, but the transiting Mars lining up and crossing the U.S.’s natal Uranus happened less than one month before.

Of all of these stelliums in the U.S.’s history, the most difficult moments seem to be when the super stelliums occur in the U.S.’s 10H (the most visible house in the chart and how the country is visible to the world).  Overall, these super stelliums involving five or more of the personal planets, have occurred four times in fire signs (twice in Aries, once in Leo, and once in Sagittarius); fourteen times in earth signs (six times is Taurus, five times in Capricorn, and three times in Virgo); four times in air signs, not counting this February (once in Gemini, once in Libra, and twice in Aquarius); and four times in water signs (once in Cancer, twice in Scorpio, and once in Pisces).   

Another interesting super stellium occurrence in our history and worth mentioning was around September 5, 1861.  Earlier that year, Abraham Lincoln had been sworn in as President and not soon after, the Constitution of the Confederate States was adopted by the South, thus starting the Civil War.  This super stellium in September 1861 was once again in the U.S.’s 10th House and throughout the year, states in the South were seceding from the nation.

So what about the super stellium coming up next month and what does history have to share about the energies we can expect?  Well, February’s stellium will be in the sign of Aquarius in the U.S.’s 3H of communication, elementary education, our immediate environment, independence, local travel habits, and ambitions.  Aquarius is all about being of service, humility, self-sacrificing, eclectic, and a curious-skeptic.  In the past, the U.S. has had two super stelliums in Aquarius; once in January of 1934 and the second in February of 1962.  In 1934, the Mars/Uranus aspect preceding the super stellium was positive (a trine) and as a result, more positive events seemed to occur during that time.  Albert Einstein visited the White House, Presidents Roosevelt signed the Gold Reserve Act which transferred all the gold held in the Federal Reserve to the U.S. Department of Treasury, and a month earlier the 21st Amendment was signed into law (repealing prohibition).  

In February 1962, there were clear national and global tensions occurring between Civil Rights efforts in the southern states, the Vietnam War beginning in December of 1961, and the U.S. embargo against Cuba announced on February 3. Some very positive events occurred, though, in the fields of transportation and space exploration.  On January 4, New York City introduced the subway train, on January 26, Ranger 3 was launched to study the moon, and on February 20, John Glenn became the first American to orbit the Earth.  It is also interesting to note that on June 25, 1962; the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that mandatory prayers in public school were unconstitutional. Once again, transiting Mars was a part of the super stellium in Aquarius and was in harmonious aspect to the U.S. natal Uranus, but by the beginning of March, transiting Mars was in opposition to transiting Uranus in the U.S. 9H.  So, there was a mix of polarization and progress. 

I cannot emphasize enough the importance of Mars and Uranus at this time.  These tense energies that we are experiencing are mainly due to these two planets and transiting Saturn and Jupiter aspecting them at a hard angle, which brings tension and a resistance to change.  An example of the volatility of Mars conjuncting and then crossing Uranus in our history would be around May of 1965 when this event occurred in the U.S.’s 10H with Pluto (& there is actually a Mutable Grand Cross formed with Saturn in the 4H and the U.S.’s Ascendant and transiting South Node in the 1H). Leading up to transiting Mars joining transiting Uranus at the beginning of May, fifty-one tornadoes touched down in the MidWest in a three-day storm called the Palm Sunday Tornado Outbreak, 25,000 protestors marched against the Vietnam War on April 17, and a magnitude

6.7 earthquake shook Puget Sound Washington on April 29, 1965. 

 What is interesting, though, and what we all need to keep in mind, is after Mars crossed Uranus in 1965, our country experienced great progress in the sciences and legislation.  On June 03, 1965, astronaut Ed White made the first U.S. space walk on July 14, Marine 4 flew by Mars and provided the first images of the red planet on July 30, the Social Security Act Amendments were signed into law and in August of 1965, the Voting Rights Act was signed by President Johnson; improving the Civil Rights Act of 1964.  

The examples of Mars (passion, independence, strength, violence) and Uranus (sudden change, uniqueness, innovation, technology, the great awakener) crossing paths and then followed by a super stellium are quite profound in the U.S.’s chart.  We are currently in the throws of these energies again as Mars prepares to conjunct Uranus and cross it on Wednesday, January 20. So, what can we expect and what can we expect from the super stellium in Aquarius that will follow less than two weeks later?

    At the time of the inauguration there will be three active T-Squares and a Mutable Grand Cross in the U.S.’s chart; if you include a tri-wheel of the U.S.’s natal, progressed, and transits.  I am only going to discuss two; the first is the U.S.’s natal Lunar Nodes, transiting Jupiter in the 3H, and Mars/Uranus in the 6H.  Joe Biden’s progressed and natal Pluto will be conjunct the U.S.’s natal North Node in the 9H and his Part of Fortune will be conjunct transiting Mars/Uranus in the 6H.  This looks very good for the President-Elect.  Donald Trump, on the other hand, is going to experience the T-Square in the U.S.’s 4H (home), 7H (politics and the release point of the T-Square), and his 10H (how he is seen in the world). In fact, when Mars crosses Uranus on January 20, it will be within orb of Trump’s MidHeaven, bringing quick and sudden change to his reputation and public self. 

The second T-Square involves transiting Sun and Saturn conjunct the U.S.’s progressed moon in the 3H, the moon briefly passing progressed Venus in the 6H, and lastly, progressed Saturn completing the T-Square in the U.S.’s 12th House.  Where the release point of the first T-Square was through Mars/Uranus in the U.S.’s 6H, the second T-Square’s release point will be through the Sun, Saturn, and Moon in the U.S.’s 3H. President-Elect Joe Biden’s Natal Sun will be conjunct the progressed Moon in the 6H, which will support his efforts to be a compassionate President in his daily work for the American people.  Trump on the other hand, will only have his Part of Fortune conjunct the U.S.’s progressed Saturn; a potentially very karmic point for him when he leaves office. 

Could there be violence leading up to this day and on January 20?  The answer is yes, but after the events of Wednesday, January 6, when Mars entered Taurus; I think more safety and security precautions have been made to ensure that matters don’t get deadly and treasonous. The ruler of the 6H is Venus and she will be transiting a strong Nakshatra called, Purva-Asadha, which is about having powerful allies and assembling them.  Trump’s only good aspect to this Venus is transiting Neptune in Pisces which can indicate being in an illusion about one’s perceived calculated friendships (Neptune in Pisces can also indicate the country of Russia). I personally think that Trump is in much greater danger than facing multiple lawsuits when he leaves the vast protection of the White House and will find himself assassinated within the next few years, most likely during his Mars profection year between June 14, 2021 and June 13, 2022.

Regarding the super stellium in Aquarius from February 1 through February 18, this year; I believe the energies will be very similar to those of the Aquarius super stellium in 1962; full of advancement and struggles as we grow as a nation toward ending racism, sexism, and elitism.

Examples of what we could see this year during and after February 2021:

1. An organized and efficient manner of distributing and providing vaccines for Covid-19 will be created and implemented starting in March and April.

2. Legislation will be created to fight a 21-century war on disinformation (including new laws for social media platforms).

3. Funding for schools to restructure the classrooms and campuses for Covid-19 and future health concerns. 

4. Legislation that supports all levels of equality (gender, LGBTQ, race, & socio-economic).

5. A third stimulus check for citizens and more support for small businesses due to the pandemic.

6. Advancements in technology, the sciences, medicine, and space exploration. (e.g. AI, holograms, fuel-efficient transportation).

7. Moving toward improved regulations for the environment, including working globally to decrease the use of fossil fuels and exploitation of natural resources and animals.

These advancements will not occur without pushback and future struggles  (transiting Mars and Uranus squaring the stellium in the U.S.’s 3H), but just like any change and growth that is experienced in life and in nature; there are moments of painful breakthroughs that lead to overall betterment and balance.
